The Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP) is a bold and inclusive initiative designed to transform the lives of women and girls across Liberia. With funding from the World Bank and leadership from the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, LWEP is improving access to services, promoting gender equality, and creating new economic opportunities.
Through a community-driven and multi-sectoral approach, LWEP is reaching 498 communities across 6 counties ensuring that no woman or girl is left behind. Whether it is through education, healthcare, livelihoods, or social norm change, we are building a future where women and girls can thrive in dignity, safety, and equality.
We help women and girls live free from violence by raising awareness, training local safeguarding committees, supporting GBV survivors, and engaging men as allies for gender equality
Supports girls’ access to education and vocational training through scholarships, learning materials, and alternative learning pathways.
Provides grants, business training, and climate-smart support to women-led enterprises, VSLAs, and producer groups.
Strengthens government systems, digital tools, and stakeholder coordination to deliver inclusive, data-driven, and accountable services.
At LWEP, we’re proud of the impact we’ve made. Our programs have helped empower women to become leaders in their communities, foster economic independence, and drive advocacy for change. Each number reflects our commitment to creating a better future for everyone.
